Jubilee Celebrations with our fabulous Jubilee Photo Shoots

What are YOU doing to celebrate this year’s Jubilee? I thought I would bring the added element of fun to local schools and toddler groups by offering them a chance to host FREE Jubilee Shoots. School and group portraits are all very well but this time I think we need a bit of added extra….so we have lined up a Jubilee ‘throne’, rugs, bandanas, Union Jack nappies (oh yes!!) and with very special thanks to a wonderful client and friend; a Union Jack Moped (even if you are not that into bikes – this one is an absolute beauty!!)

If you are a local school, baby/toddler group or even a charity looking to raise some funds and would like to organise a special Jubilee Photo Shoot read on:

In your shoot I will:

Photograph all the children in the group

Organse all post shoot sales and orders

Photograph your event FREE OF CHARGE and provide you with a set of atmospheric images which you can use for local press etc.

Post you a commission cheque from the sales

It doesn’t have to be just for the children! Why should they have all the fun? (Although the Union jack nappies won’t fit!) The Union Jack throne makes a great fun backdrop for anyone. Let your imagination run wild…but contact me very soon as this idea has been soooo popular that we already have a diary which is filling up fast!

Easter is almost upon us and we are having lots of fun planning activities for the children. You can download an Easter A4 colouring-in poster here. Easter Mini Shoots are back!!

Look at this gorgeous weather! Makes you want to have a photo taken doesn’t it!? Of course, well our wonderful 30 minute mini shoots are taking place on the 14th and 15th April 2012 at a small farm in Liss. Places need booking so do contact us before arriving.

The light is truly beautiful there, its such a relaxed atmosphere even the most reluctant family member leaves smiling! For £25, it’s also a bit of a bargain, prices for prints start at £25, framed prints, £50 and digital file packages are £150 upwards. Plus there are usually a few easter eggs dotted around as well…

Our first Pregnancy Photography Training Session

We’ve had a very busy week so far and there’s lots more to come. We are in the throes of building our training sessions for pregnancy and newborns. Luckily our pregnant model is providing both!! She was wonderful in front of the camera and not too shy. Unsurprising, as it turns out that she has appeared with the ‘Great Gok’ himself on ‘How to Look Good Naked’!! We have videoed the session, and we are recording training notes, visuals and handy pdfs to go with the session. We’ll then be uploading taster sessions very soon.

Family Fun!

I met a wonderful family last weekend, they had been lucky enough to receive this photo shoot from the children’s Godmother at a recent charity auction. It was a typical family set up, a 12, 9 and 5 year old all needing some persuasion and a bit of silliness to giggle in front of the camera. The 12 year old particularly loved her guitar and her siblings near by. Having spoken to the mum regarding any requests about the shoot, she wanted to capture the close relationship her two daughters shared and as you can see, they are very close.

This was a lovely photo shoot to do, as the children were great fun. Plus we also had a giant teddy bear and a large purple, Fatboy bean bag to ably assist us.

My main aim was to get a smile from everyone, capture a particular aspect of everyone’s character and to show the close relationship which existed between them all. In fact this is my main aim in any family shoot but this one was particularly special as the eldest daughter requires round the clock care and is unable to sit unaided. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves, even when one of them fell asleep and started snoring!

Patience, wide aperture and lightening quick reactions needed here as some expressions were gone in blink.

Studio or location?

This is a question I am asked most often. The answer I usually give is it is your choice. I love photographing children, who are capable of walking, out and about – jumping, chasing, exploring. The light is usually great and you can capture them in a very natural environment. Sometimes though, a cleaner, ‘white’ look is required – in the style of the iconic GAP ads. If you are considering a shoot and don’t think your home is suitable, think again! The majority of my work is in client’s homes. Some of these shots are most definitely taken on location, but which were taken in the studio?
